Things to consider before buying washing machine.

Are to planning to buy washing machine online? But which one to buy?

Here is a washing machine buying guide, things you should consider before buying a washing machine -

1. Fully automatic v.s semi-automatic washing machine.

SEMI-AUTOMATIC - It usually consists of 2 tubs.
                                       Tub 1 is for washing
                                       Tub 2 is for drying.
After clothes are washed in tub 1, you have to manually put the clothes in                                                           tub 2 for drying.

Pros - 1) cheaper than fully automatic.

Cons - 1) time consuming.
                                         2) requires manual work.
                                         3) more space required.
                                         4) you have to manually change the water.

FULLY-AUTOMATIC - It consists of a single tub.
Washing and drying take place simultaneously.
                                          No manual work is required.
                            Pros - 1) Fast.
                                      2) No manual work required
                                      3) Less space required.
                                      4) Dry clothes.

Cons - 1) Expensive

Fully automatic washing machine > Semi-automatic washing machine.

2. Loading capacity.

Loading capacity is the number of clothes the washing machine can accommodate while cleaning.

              Family members                              Ideal size
                    Small (3-4)                                                    6 kg.
                   Medium (5-6)                                                7 kg.
                   Large (8-10)                                                  8 kg.

3. Rotation per minute (RPM).

Number of times the drum of the machine rotates in 1 minute is called RPM.
A washing machine with more RPM is better since it can clean and dry the clothes much better.

                             Below 1000           -    not recommended.
                             1000 to 1200         -     standard.
                             Above 1200           -     better.

4. Drum material.

Drum material plays a very important role in the durability of a washing machine.
Drum material can be -
1. Plastic.
                                     2. Stainless steel.

Both plastic and stainless steel drums are durable and may last until the machine lasts. but there are some differences -

• With use, plastic drum becomes rough and may damage the clothes.
Whereas, stainless steel drum turns smooth with use hence preferred.

• Stainless steel drums are stronger than plastic drums and can hold up to higher spin speed.

stainless steel drum > plastic drum

5. Front-load vs top load.

Front-load - In these washing machines, the door is in the front and the drum rotates around the horizontal axis.

Pros -  1) Cleans better.
                                          2) Saves detergent and water.
                                          3) More
RPM.

Cons - 1) Expensive.
                                         2) Larger in size.
                                         3) Makes more noise ( since more RPM).
                                         4) Smell issues ( due to the accumulation of dirt in the door).
                                         5) Requires more time to wash.

Top-load - In these washing machines, the door is above and the drum rotates around the vertical axis.

Pros -  1) More convenient to use.
                                           2) It requires less time to wash.
                                           3) Compact.
                                           4) It makes less noise.
                                           5) Cheaper.

Cons - 1) Not better than front-load in cleaning.
                                         2) Less RPM.
                                         3) It requires more water and detergent.

Suggestion - If you have a budget of more than 20k then frontload is the best choice.
below 20K, top load is a better choice.

6. Water, electricity, and detergent.

Choose a washing machine which uses less water and detergent and also saves electricity.

Tip -
Buy a good expensive washing machine and save money on water, electricity, and detergent later.

 7. Brand.

•Choose a brand that provides good service ( installation, repair work. etc).
•The service center of the washing machine should be preset in your city/town.

some best brands are-

LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, IFB, Bosch, Haier, Panasonic, Onida, Godrej, etc.

8. Warranty.

Choose a washing machine which has a good warranty period.
generally, washing machines have a
2 year warranty period.

9. Digital inverter motor.

If you are planning to buy a washing machine above 25k, then always go for a digital inverter washing machine.
Like ACs, now even washing machines are equipped with digital inverters.
Benefits of Digital inverter - 1) saves electricity.
                                            2) much smooth motor( since brushless).
                                            3) motor lasts longer
Samsung digital inverter washing machines, provide a 10-year warranty on their motors.

So that is the checklist which you should consider before buying a new washing machine.
Hope you like it.
